X1: Birmingham - Coventry



The X1 links the two major cities of the West Midlands, Birmingham and Coventry, via Birmingham's airport and the National Exhibition Centre. It runs every 20 minutes Mon-Sat daytimes, with a good evening and Sunday service and is operated by National Express West Midlands.

Timetable

At the time of writing, the X1 runs every 20 minutes Mon-Sat daytimes, with a slightly less frequent service in the evenings. There is an hourly overnight service between Birmingham Airport and Birmingham City Centre.

Tickets


The cheapest day ticket valid throughout the route of the X1 is the National Express West Midlands Daysaver Ticket at £4 for an adult, when paying cash. It's £4.60 if you need to travel before 0930 on weekdays. Prices are about 10p lower if you pay by contactless. It's valid on all National Express West Midlands buses in this area.


If you need to connect with the buses of other operators, but will be remaining within the County of West Midlands, then the multi-operator 1 Day nBus is for you. For an adult it costs £4.20 (£5 if you need to travel before 0930 on weekdays). It is valid on the buses of all operators within the County of West Midlands.

Network West Midlands also offers multi-modal tickets for travel with the County of West Midlands by bus, tram and/or train.


If you're travelling by train from outside the County of West Midlands, then you can buy a Plusbus ticket for £3.40 with your train ticket. The following Plusbus tickets are valid all day on the full route of the X1 and on all buses in the County of West Midlands:

Sharing part of their route with the X1 are the X2 and 60, also operated by National Express West Midlands, which provide extra buses between Sheldon and Birmingham City Centre.
